Ingredients

  • 6 Honeycrisp apples
  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ cup bourbon whiskey (optional)

Instructions

  • Peel and core the apples. Slice the apples into smaller pieces.
  • Place the apple slices into a large mixing bowl. Add the brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and bourbon (if using). Mix everything evenly, so the apples are all coated.
  • Place the apples into the air fryer basket and cook at 350 F for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking.
  • Remove the apples from the air fryer and serve warm. You can add some vanilla ice cream and caramel for an easy dessert.

Notes

  • We recommend using Honeycrisp apples, but you can experiment with any kind of seasonal apples. Each variety of apple with come with it’s own unique flavor profile and texture and will take to the sauce slightly differently.
  • You can use any Fall-inspired spices or combination of spices that you like best, like pumpkin spice, for example.
  • We recommend serving this dish warm as either a side dish to a savory meal, like pork loin or turkey, or as a dessert. If serving it as a dessert you can top it with your choice of ice cream or whipped cream topping.
