Panettone French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Panettone bread
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmet
  • Butter, for the skillet
  • Powdered sugar, optional garnish 

Instructions

  • Slice the Panettone bread into 6 even 1 inch slices. 
  • Slice the Panettone bread into 6 even 1 inch slices. 
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add some butter to the skillet, greasing the entire bottom. 
  • Dip a slice of Panettone bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides. Allow any excess to drip off. Place into the skillet and allow a nice golden crust to form, about 1-2 minutes per side. Repeat this for each slice of bread. You may need to work quickly, as the bread will start to crumble if soaked for too long. 
  • When the French toast is ready, sprinkle some powdered sugar over the top, if you would like. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • You want a nice thick slice of bread because it will start to crumble.
  • The bread is already on the sweet side, so be cautious when sprinkling it with sugar and syrup.
  • You can use any type of Panettone you would like, traditional fruit, chocolate chip or plain.
